We have an exciting new opportunity at our Yardley Wood Garage for a Driver Training Officer. You will effectively train relevant local skills to new trainee drivers and existing drivers at garage level ensuring competency is achieved and maintained. Ensure all candidates at depot on sector qualifications are provided with guidance and support to achieve their awards within specified timescales. To be a communication link for Driver training needs, support the local management team with Driver Risk reduction, and lead on DriveCam coaching for the garage / location. You will monitor DriveCam equipment to ensure it is fully operational and keeping the DriveCam system fully up to date.

What you'll do...

  • To work in-line with the training department delivering Core/local skills required under the competency management system. To act as a lead figure in the successful delivery of local skills driving assessments relating to the CMS implemented at Depot
  • To demonstrate effective oversight of driver performance, and continuously ensure effective management of drivers and their performance is being applied.
  • Contribute to delivering service reliability and quality defined standards to internal/external customers ensuring improvements are monitored as and when required.
  • To act as a lead figure in the successful delivery of local skills and carry out unbiased assessments relating to the national occupational standards for candidates on sector NVQ qualifications
  • Maintaining and developing relationships with new trainee drivers/existing drivers and management.
  • To work with training department to support candidates in the successful completion of sector qualifications aligned to the business requirements
  • Be able to drive on pre-determined routes, in accordance with detailed information on duty boards and rosters, and effectively maintain appropriate time schedules.
  • To maintain all areas of personal development to ensure compliance to training delivery and procedures. Lead figure in compiling feedback via all relevant reports and recommending possible solutions to line management
  • Act as a main contact at your garage / location for DriveCam related coaching activity, and update of DriveCam unit / vehicle reconciliation register


What you'll have...

  • Excellent face-to-face communication
  • Flexible approach to working hours.
  • Flexible approach to travelling within the Midlands
  • Ideally experience in using Traffilog, EP Morris, Horizons and Grampian software
  • PCV Licence and a relevant Assessors award
  • Undergo RoSPA and assessment training course (Full Training will be given)
  • Good understanding the data protection act appertaining to on board CCTV footage
