We have an exciting opportunity for a Group Internal Auditor to join our expanding Finance team based in Birmingham.

Working with individual business units, the Ideal candidate will manage business risks ensuring our system of control is designed appropriately and operating efficiently, using the appropriate controls to minimise and detect instances of error and fraud, adding value by proposing process improvements.
Observing IIA Standards and Data Analytics, you’ll be required to generate internal audits providing an opinion on the effectiveness of internal controls and feedback on recommendations for improvement as required.

This role has an international dimension; as well as covering our UK businesses you may be required to travel overseas to undertake audits (e.g. Germany, Bahrain, Spain, North America, Morocco, Portugal and Switzerland).
Which on average will be 5 to 10 ,1 week periods throughout the year

What you’ll do…

  • Work with The HIA and other Audit Managers to develop a risk-based internal audit plan for our UK and International divisions

  • To develop good and trusted working relationships with local management. To assist and advise management on audit development and improvement as well as controlling processes as requested or required

  • Identify and maximise synergies between Group business units and contribute to best practice within the Business units where appropriate

  • To undertake and support anti-fraud and other compliance processes, including any investigations of suspected fraud or other loss to the company, including those reported via the whistleblower hotline

  • To actively contribute towards the team development and maintenance of the Group Internal Audit methodology, IA systems, standards. Including development of junior, staff on secondment in IA, and guest auditors members, coaching and supporting the audit team

What you'll need...

  • Graduate with Formal Accountancy Qualification or near completion (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) 

  • To be able to communicate in Spanish or German is desirable but not essential

  • Proven internal or external audit experience

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, with excellent report writing abilities

  • Knowledge of the Pentana Audit System is desirable but not essential

  • A Valid UK Driving Licence
