We have an exciting opportunity for a Information Governance Assistant based in Birmingham. As a Information Governance Assistant, you will help and support the Data Privacy team with the delivery and continuous improvement of data protection services across all UK companies.

We are seeking an innovative, person focussed individual who is looking for a challenge and wants to expand their knowledge, skills and qualifications within the privacy protection arena. This person will be a key member of our going focus on the management and protection of all of our data assets.

What you’ll do...

  • Manage the teams internal and external communications inboxes, prioritising requests to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory and business timescales
  • Assist in the assessment and deployment of all requests made by individuals who exercise their rights, e.g right to access, correct or erase their personal data in a timely and confidential manner
  • To support the deployment record keeping and on-going engagement with information asset owners to create, update and manage our Record of Processing Activities (‘RoPAs’)
  • To support the triage, management and assessment of the UK incident management process keeping a clear record of near misses, potential breaches of personal data and actual data protection breaches
  • Investigate and triage data protection related incidents and provide guidance to affected stakeholders to reduce the likelihood of similar future complaints

What you'll need...

  • Excellent understanding of the GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018
  • Experience in applying relevant ICO guidance, codes and papers in a practical context
  • Ability to communicate clearly and confidently and clearly understood by a variety of
  • Stakeholders
  • Working towards or holding a foundation/practitioner qualification in data protection
  • Demonstrable experience gained within a privacy role or similar compliance type role
