We have a great opportunity for a Community Engagement Manager to join our HR team based in the West Midlands, who will be responsible for the successful delivery and ongoing development of our community engagement activity.

You will need to be confident to seek out key partnerships and be courageous with your decision making, and have an eye for detail. 

This role is all about stakeholder management and innovation, so you’ll need to have integrity, be creative, and be willing to see projects through to completion.

The key focus will be on the creation, development and delivery of the National Express community engagement agenda, with particular focus on youth and charity. This role will form part of the Resourcing team..

What you'll do...

  • Develop and drive the National Express community agenda.
  • Develop relationships and initiatives with relevant charities and educational institutions/organisations within the local and national community - including DWP, The Princes Trust, local schools, colleges and universities.
  • Develop a pipeline of employability opportunities, youth initiatives (including oversight if work experience offering), careers fairs and identify current and future funding opportunities.
  • Represent National Express at relevant community and careers events.
  • Create the required collateral of material and merchandise needed to demonstrate the right professional representation of National Express. Maintaining and updating this as the external and internal environment evolves.
  • Support the L&D graduate programme lead with coordinating and delivering the annual graduate recruitment assessment process.
  • Develop the National Express university student placement processes, with the view to help develop the graduate pipeline for the future.
  • Identify opportunities to develop local and national stakeholder relationships with the view to further develop the National Express inclusion agenda, strengthening the diverse talent pipeline
  • Develop a community KPI dashboard and regular progress reports to the senior HR team, in line with monthly reporting requirements
  • Seeking opportunities to celebrate the ‘people’ successes by leading the compilation of relevant national and local awards
  • Act as the connection between community and promote National express employer brand

What you’ll have

  • Passion about delivering and raising business-to-community engagement
  • Experience in establishing credibility with stakeholder and peers, with a strong ability in delivering successful outcomes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills - articulate in all methods of communication.
  • Competent in presenting and networking with different sized audiences who represent different community demographics, and seniority levels
  • Proficient computer skills, ideally has experience of Google suite and Microsoft tools.
  • Organised and able to be flexible in adhering to multiple timelines and schedules. Has a high attention to detail with the ability to manage and prioritise multiple workloads
  • Ability to identify risks to potential projects/initiatives and implement risk management strategies
  • Be able to think strategically and negotiate effectively and encourage cross-company delivery of key activities
