This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious person to develop in an international FTSE 250 business environment based in Birmingham. Reporting into the Head of Corporate Accounting, this role is a member of the Group Finance team of 11 people. We are looking for an individual who is capable of being a successor for other finance roles within the Group Finance team or in the divisional finance teams and as such we are recruiting with this in mind, in addition to the requirements for this particular role. This is ideally suited to a first time mover from practice.

This role is responsible for managing/overseeing all aspects of the accounting for the Group’s c.£50m interest costs. This will include day-to-day accounting and ledger responsibilities, month end management reporting, monthly reconciliations and analysis of spend and forecasting, which will be presented to the Group Treasurer and Group Financial Controller. The role also acts as a business partner to the Group Treasury function, advising on accounting matters, keeping abreast of compliance and reporting requirements, and performing control processes to ensure smooth running of the function.

This role will involve being a trusted business partner to the Treasury team and perform back office responsibilities including various processes and controls to ensure the smooth running of the function including managing trade confirmations and settlements for fuel and foreign exchange derivatives with various banks. The role will track and monitor interest costs and produce monthly reporting to the Head of Corporate Accounting and Group Financial Controller to show performance against budgets and forecasts.
 

As the successful candidate, you will possess:

  • A degree and ACA qualification.
  • Strong IT skills, in particular Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with an ability to consistently produce reports that are free of error.
  • Able to communicate confidently with senior personnel and to present information in a succinct and professional manner.
  • Able to collaborate well with employees across all levels within the organisation.
  • Highly efficient and with the energy and tenacity to see work through to completion, in a timely manner, ensuring deadlines are met at all times.
  • Able to cope well with pressure and have the organisational skills to manage a diverse range of tasks.
  • A motivation to identify and implement process improvement within the role.
